Recently the Union Cabinet of
India approved two major plans. We

Union Cabinet sanctioned Rs 4,038 Crore plan
to tackle Japanese Encephalitis
The
Union Cabinet of India sanctioned a mega plan proposal of Rs 4,038 Crore for a
comprehensive strategy, which is multi-pronged too. Cabinet approved the plan
to prevent and take full control of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Acute
Encephalitis Syndrome (AES).
The said proposal
came from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as the Ministry was keen
to implement the necessary activities, which had been recommended by the Group
of Ministers (GoM). The aim of the proposal is to not only prevent but also
take full control of the rising Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Acute
Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). As the proposal now has been approved by the Union
Cabinet, now very soon it will be implemented in 60 districts on priority basis
for a steady period of 5 years from 2012-13 to 2016-17. This proposal will be
implemented by the Ministers of different department like Health & Family
Welfare, drinking Water & Sanitation, Social Justice & Empowerment,
Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and last but not the least Child
Development.
The
government is mainly focusing five states for the intervention of the above
mentioned proposal, which are Assam, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West
Bengal. There will be a lot of necessary
activities on these states like public health interventions, expansion of JE
vaccination, improved case management, improved provisions of drinking water
and sanitation in rural and urban areas, medical and social rehabilitation and
improved nutrition. The government is mainly targeting the core of the health
sector to develop it from its root, which is pretty good in deed.
Union Cabinet approved Rs 8,000 Crore to
Purchase missile for Armed Forces
Recently the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has approved a
proposal, which is worth over Rs 8000 Crore. The proposal is all about the
upgradation of the Armed Forces of India. This approval will help India to
procure approximately 10,000 ‘Invar’ missiles from Russia, which is mainly for
the Army’s T-90 tanks. Not only that it will also help to procure over 200
air-launched versions of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, which is
mainly for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) held an important
meeting under the guidance of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself to discuss
the necessity of the upgradation of Armed Forces. After the meeting they
decided to approve the required money for purchasing these missiles for the
above mentioned two services.
The proposal of the IAF, which is worth over Rs 6,000 Crore, is mainly
focusing on buying BrahMos missiles. It also involved the sanctioning of funds
for the testing and integration of the BrahMos missile on IAF’s latest entry
Russian origin Su-30MKI.
If everything goes according to the plan then the first test of the
air-launched version of the most-talked about supersonic cruise missile, which
has been developed jointly by Russia and India, is to be conducted by the end
of December only.
HAL will also modify two
Su-30MKI of the IAF at its Nasik facility, where they will also be integrated
with the most awaited aerial launcher developed by the India’s own BrahMos.
