58 Space Missions to be launched by ISRO during 12th plan

              Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is all set to launch a total number of 58 space missions in the next five years. These missions include sending spacecraft to moon and Mars, an exclusive satellite to keep a round-the-clock watch on all over the country and deploy a total number of five hundred transponders.

                         This is not all; the Indian Space Research Organization is also aiming to deploy its own version of the Global Positioning System. They will eventually put into orbit a constellation of seven different satellites which would actually form the Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS).

                         Considering the growing demands from the various DTH operators, satellite mobile communications and gen-next broadband VSAT systems, ISRO plans to add 400 new transponders to the existing 187. Hopefully it will meet the growing demands. This plan is already approved by the Cabinet, and it has been added to the 12^th Five Year Plan Draft.

                         Rs 39,750 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Space research in the 12^th plan, though it’s just an indicative plan outlay. It looks like India is all set to declare itself as a super power in the space research area.

                         Overall, a total number of 58 missions are planned for action during this upcoming 12^th Five Year Plan period, which includes 33 satellite missions and 25 launch vehicle missions, as per the document of the 12^th plan.
